Abstract

Fungal infections are characteristics of severely immunocompromised patients. Noncandidal yeasts represent a growing portion of such infections. Hansenula anomala (H. anomala) is a noncandidal, ascosporogenous yeast which has recently emerged as potential pathogen in immunocompromised host. In Korea, H. anomala infection has never been reported until now. We report a case of H. anomala fungemia in a patient with acute lymphocytic leukemia(FAB L2) and also review the literatures.
